Immich is a self-hosted photo and video management solution that aims to let you browse, search and organise your photos and videos without sacrificing your privacy. It is licensed under the GNU AGPL v3, and the project says it will stay AGPL without a contributor licence agreement.
The recommended install uses Docker Compose. The docs list at least 6 GB of RAM and 2 CPU cores (8 GB and 4 cores recommended), and advise keeping the Postgres database on local SSD storage rather than a network share. The quick start points to Google Takeout for photos that are not on your phone, and existing photo folders can be added as an external library.
The maintainers say nothing will be put behind a paywall and that you are free to use the software without paying. An optional supporter purchase, for one user or a whole server, helps fund the project.
