About this offer
Anthropic's AI for Science program gives free Claude API credits to researchers attached to research institutions who work on scientific topics Anthropic considers high priority. Anthropic's help center says successful applicants get up to $20,000 in API credits for a six-month period, while its August 27, 2026 announcement says researchers can apply for up to $50,000 in credits per project.
Applications are reviewed by Anthropic's team, including subject-matter experts, and evaluated on the first Monday of each month. Selection looks at scientific merit and potential impact, and proposals go through biosecurity screening.
The credits are for API use only; they don't apply to the Claude web app and don't give access to non-standard or non-public models.
