About this offer

AWS Activate is Amazon Web Services' credit program for startups. The Founders tier offers $1,000 in Activate Credits to self-funded startups that are not linked to an Activate Provider; AWS says select startups may qualify for up to $5,000 over time.

The Portfolio tier is for startups associated with an Activate Provider, such as an accelerator, angel investor or venture capital firm. Applicants need an Organization ID (Org ID) from that provider. Current AWS pages list this tier at up to $200,000; some older AWS pages still show $100,000.

Applicants should be pre-Series B, founded in the last 10 years, and have a working company website. Startups can reapply for a larger package, but the award is typically the difference from what they already received.

Who's eligible

  • Founded in the past 10 years
  • Self-funded or pre-Series B (most recent funding round within the last 12 months, if applicable)
  • A fully functioning company website
  • New to Activate Credits, or requesting more than previously received
  • Portfolio tier: associated with an Activate Provider and holding its Organization ID

How to redeem

  1. 1Choose the Founders tier, or get an Org ID from your Activate Provider for the Portfolio tier
  2. 2Submit the application on the AWS Activate site
  3. 3Wait for AWS to notify you of your application status

Terms and restrictions

  • Founders tier: $1,000 in Activate Credits; select startups may qualify for up to $5,000 over time
  • Org IDs are confidential and are not promotional codes
  • Reapplying for a higher package typically awards only the difference from your previous credits

Terms are summarised from the provider's page and may change. The provider's terms always take precedence.
